When and where was your first ski race? Did you drive, ski or observe? Why did you enter the race? What do you remember most about the event? Was there anyone who helped you or influenced your participation? Who won the race?  My first ski race was a Puddingstone Circle Race in 1991. My wife was at a baby shower for our first child. I just showed up and said "I want to ski." I signed up and was put with boat 805 (I don't remember his name) and Terry Cook as Observer. They hooked me up with all the gear and we went racing! There were so many Social skiers they had to run three heat races!  I won the heat race and placed fourth in the main. With having kids and work I didn't race again for 10 years.  At thirty years old I decided it was time to ski the Catalina Race.

What do you like most about ski racing? What (not who) do you like least (be nice)? What keeps you coming back? My favorite thing about ski racing is the racing itself! I love the thrill of going all out. The least favorite thing is that I don't win! I'm just a weekend warrior and don't ski between races. I come back for the good friends and good fun!

What has been your biggest accomplishment related to ski racing (can be on or off the water)? Why was this your biggest accomplishment? What are your future goals?  My biggest accomplishment in ski racing has to be my first year- 2001. I got off to a bad start for the year with boat problems and not making  my starts. I improved and finished the year with some wins and a 1st Place Novice Marathon Hi-Point trophy.  Future goals in Ski Racing are to keep coming back for many years.

What is your favorite ski racing memory, story or legend? My favorite ski racing memory has to be our trip to "Clear (Not really) Lake" in 03'. My family, Mark Clifton's family (Boat 309),and my cousin Gery Sinnott (Boat 321) all camped at some run down RV Park and had a great time swimming, skiing, and boating. My kid's are still talking about how much fun they had on that trip. Isn't that really what it's all about?!

Anything else you would like to include (150 words or less). Occupation, other accomplishments, ski racing hero, mini bio, etc. I am 39 years old and have been married to Kelli for 19 years we have 3 children Kelsie, Kristi, and Michael. I started Performance Transport in 1991 with my partner's and have been at it ever since.  In 1995 I was diagnosed with a rare Liver Disease and was told the only cure would be a Transplant. I lived with this for many years. I was Transplanted in 2006 and have been doing well with my new Liver. Since then I have not skied much, but have been competing as a driver and observer. I hope to get myself in shape to Ski Catalina when I'm 40. Don't forget to be an organ donor!
